Using dropbox with Setlist Helper for Android

In all the steps below the files will be downloaded locally to the Setlist Helper documents directory. A “Dropbox” folder will be created in the directory. By default the directory is {internalSDCard}/SetlistHelper. This can be changed by tapping “Preferences” in the navigation menu of the app. Tap “Documents directory” to change directory.

Import

  • Open the app and tap Songs in the navigation menu.
  • At the upper right of the Songs list tap the menu button and choose “Import”.
  • Tap the Dropbox button in the upper right.
  • Choose a dropbox directory that contains any of these files pdf, txt, docx, doc, rtf, jpg, png, chopro, and pro files. You will only see directories. When importing, the files are hidden because a directory needs to be chosen. If you would like to see the files follow the steps below for “Import a Single File”.
  • Tap the save button at the bottom of the directory browser.
  • The app will iterate through the file types listed above in the directory and create songs and attach the document to the song.
  • You can follow the steps again and re-import the files. It will look for new files or updates to the files.

Export

  • Tap Songs in the navigation menu.
  • At the upper right of the Songs list tap the menu button and choose “Export”.
  • Tap the Dropbox button in the upper right. Choose a dropbox directory that you want to export files from.
  • Tap the save button at the bottom of the file browser.
  • The export will create text files (pro file extension) to the selected dropbox directory. This is the way users can back up their lyrics.

Import a Single File

  • Open the navigation menu of the app and tap songs.
  • Tap the plus button and choose “Add song” or edit an existing song by tapping the circle with a down arrow next to the song and select “Edit”.
  • Type a song name in the “Name” field.
  • Tap the document icon next to the “Document” text field.
  • Tap Dropbox in the upper right.
  • Choose (Tap) one of these files pdf, txt, docx, doc, rtf, jpg, png, chopro, and pro files.
    Tap the “Save” button in the file explorer.
  • Tap the “Save” button in the Song add activity. After you do this the file will be downloaded.

Import Audio File

Follow the steps above for “Import single file” but tap the edit icon next to the “Audio”  text field.
The audio file will be downloaded after you save the song.

  • Navigate to the lyrics on your song.
  • In the upper right tap the menu button.
  • Choose Attach audio.
  • Tap Dropbox in the upper right.
  • Choose (Tap) one of your audio or midi files.
  • Tap the “Save” button in the file explorer.
  • Tap the “Save” button in the Song add activity. After you do this the file will be downloaded.

Update dropbox files

  • Open the navigation menu of the app and tap songs.
  • At the upper right of the Songs list tap the menu button and choose “Update dropbox files”.
  • This feature will look at all the dropbox files that are attached to Songs. It will download the files if they are not there or update file that need to be updated.
    This is useful if you have multiple devices and want to download the files on another device.
